Mekelle- Dallol- Mekelle

This would be possible if you drive to Dallol from Mekelle  very early in the morning tour Drive to Ragad (Asebo), the place where the  localities are mining salt. 1,200 km2 (460 sq mi) the Afar Depression is covered by salt, and salt Look the activity of breaking the salt from the ground, local people are cutting in to rectangular pieces and loading on camels. You drive ahead to Dallol and visit the difference landscape formed by volcanic activity, Dallol + Lake Assal + salt canon, camel caravans, follow up camel caravans and rive back to HamadEla  for lunch and proceed to Mekelle.

Danakil is the deepest part of Ethiopia at 116 km below sea level. It stretches between the Red Sea and the foothills of the eastern slopes of Ethiopian plateau. The depression has marvelous pattern of volcanoes, its activity greatly contributing to the formation of the present Rift Valley system. The whole part of this natural wonder is inhabited by the Afar people, nomadic shepherds carrying salt in their caravans up to the Ethiopian Highlands.

Day1: Mekelle – Volcano

We drive from Mekelle to  artale (volcano). Leave after breakfast possibly at 9:00am drive to artale. This is may be one of the roughest roads in the world. The 247 km distance may take about 5 hrs passing through changing landscape of solidified lava rock and sand After passing several small hamlets scattered here and there in this deserted land, you will arrive to Erta Ale camping site,. After a short break and,  before the sunset we will trek for about 20 minutes to Ertale , where we spend few hours watching the dramatic action of the boiling lava. Erta Ale contains the world’s only permanent lava lake with 613 meters above sea level, one of only five in the world; it is notable for being the longest existing lava lake present since the early years of the 20th century. And you will trek back to basic camp basement to spend the night, have a dinner and sleeping under the stars.

Start of your tour into the DANAKIL to ERTA ALE, the famous volcano with it’s bubbling lava lake and the rare possibility of experiencing the nomadic tribe living in this desert- the AFAR people, survivors and warriors in the hottest and one of the lowest places on earth! Today we drive from Mekele to LAKE AFDERA. The Danakil Depression can be said to ‘begin’ here. It is one of the most spectacular and also absolutely inhospitable regions of the world!

Day 1

After an early morning breakfast, transportation to the Airport for a flight further north, which takes you to the oldest city in Ethiopia, Axum. 8 Km drive to the town for a check in at a hotel. Then start exploring Axum, a place where the cradle of Ethiopian culture,

Day 1- FULL DAY DRIVE ADDIS ABABA - ARBAMINCH

Morning after breakfast meet with SET staffs (driver and guide) at your preferred departure point and time, start drive down to south, the drive will take you along the scenic farmlands of Gurage People stop at UNESCO Tiya Steal Filed to visit the 12th century, We will also drive through the Wolayta farmlands, with views of the lush green hills and valleys, late afternoon arrival at Arbaminch- meaning 'Forty Springs' in Amharic. Arbaminch takes its name from the bubbling streams that cover the groundwater forest occupying the flats of the town, Overnight hotel.

​Day 1, fly addis - Mekelle – Volcano – Dodom. We start drive to Dodom (at the base of Erta Ale). Leave after breakfast, possible at 09:00  This is may be one of the worst roads in the world. The 70 km distance may take about 5 hrs passing through changing landscape of solidified lava, rock, sand and occasional palm lined oasis.
